I’m Slsabil Hassan — a freshman at Washington and Lee University double majoring in Computer Science and Business Administration

SCROLL

My passion lies in the intersection of art and technology.

Hi! I’m Slsabil Hassan—but most people call me Zazo. I’m a freshman at Washington and Lee University, where I’m pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Business Administration. I'm originally from Alexandria, Egypt—not from the pyramids side, but from the sea, where the Mediterranean breeze meets a love for logic, learning, and a bit of chaos. My journey into tech started over six years ago through competitive programming, and I quickly fell in love with solving hard problems and building smart systems. Since then, I've gone from being one of Egypt’s top programmers to launching my own startup, writing children’s books about coding, and building full-stack apps that solve real-world problems.

Little Coders

Founder

2024 — Present

Little Coders is a creative ed-tech initiative I founded to introduce young children to the world of coding in a fun, accessible way—through story-driven books and interactive learning. The project blends my passion for tech and storytelling, aiming to close the gap in early coding education by making programming concepts engaging and age-appropriate.

Summer Research Scholar - Washington and Lee

Summer 2025

Starting in June 2025, I will be working on a research project under the guidance of Professor Kefu Lu at Washington and Lee University. This project, titled "Algorithm Design in Online Scheduling", will focus on developing efficient algorithms to optimize task scheduling in distributed computing environments. I will be exploring advanced algorithmic concepts, including approximation algorithms to ensure near-optimal performance when exact solutions are computationally expensive, and studying how to allocate computational resources efficiently to maximize quality of service. The research will deepen my understanding of algorithm design, efficiency, and theoretical problem-solving while providing hands-on experience with real-world scheduling challenges in distributed systems. This project, which may lead to a publishable result, is an exciting opportunity to apply my computational skills to cutting-edge research while collaborating closely with Professor Lu and contributing to innovative solutions in computer science.
